What if "I have a lot going on" is actually anxiety in disguise?

Anxiety Doesn't Always Look Like Panic (Sometimes It Looks Like You)

You say "I'm fine." You mean it, mostly. But something underneath knows that's not the whole story.

Hi Reader,

I used to say "I have a lot going on" like it was just a fact of life. Turns out, for a lot of us, it's actually the polite way we describe something else entirely.

WHAT YOUR BODY KNOWS

There was a stretch, not long ago, where I was running on stimulation alone โ€” fourth and fifth cup of coffee by 3 or 4pm, just trying to make it to dinner. From the outside, I looked fine. I was showing up, getting things done. Nobody called that anxiety. They called it "a lot going on."

But some nights I'd get home with nothing left โ€” not even enough energy to shower. I'd collapse into bed, wake up, and start again with two cups of coffee before I'd even left the house.

The bottom line: Your body isn't failing you. It's been trying to tell you something.

IN MY ROTATION

Here's what's had my attention lately.

๐ŸŽง Why You Feel Constantly Stressed (But Don't Think You're Anxious)โ€” Why anxiety in women doesn't always look like panic โ€” sometimes it looks like productivity, perfectionism, and always being "fine." ๐Ÿ‘‰ Listen hereโ€‹

YOUR TURN: What's your version of the fourth cup of coffee โ€” the thing you reach for just to keep going? Hit reply and tell me, no judgment.

WHAT RHYTHM ACTUALLY LOOKS LIKE

One of the things I hear most: "I don't know if I'm anxious, I just have a lot going on." Functioning and feeling safe in your body are not the same thing, and there's a simple way to start noticing the difference.

SOUL CHECK-IN: Today, notice just once when you say "I'm fine." Put a hand on your heart and ask yourself what you actually need. You don't have to fix anything โ€” just notice.

If this pattern feels familiar, the Hidden Stress Pattern Quiz can help you see where it's showing up in your body. ๐Ÿ‘‰ Take the quiz โ€” it's freeโ€‹

MY WORLD

Lately, I've noticed the evenings getting darker a bit sooner โ€” a quiet reminder that we're already halfway through summer, heading toward fall.

Speaking of Fall - the Fall Reset Cleanse is set for September 28th. Mark your calendars.

Before you go:

If "I'm fine" has been doing a lot of heavy lifting lately, the Hidden Stress Pattern Quiz is a gentle place to start seeing what's underneath it. ๐Ÿ‘‰ Take the quiz โ€” it's freeโ€‹

Be well and nourished,

Chelsea

P.S. Do you ever say "I'm fine" when you're not totally sure that's true? Reply "yes" if so โ€” I read every single one.

Nice chat, see you next week.

Chelsea Johnson Ayurveda The Body Rhythm The Season Is Shifting (Is Your Nervous System Ready?) You looked up from your desk and the sun was already setting. Earlier than it should be. Earlier than you were ready for. Hi Reader, I was sitting at my desk this week, mid-task, when I looked up and realized the sun was already setting. It was earlier than it had been just two weeks before. Something in my chest quietly shifted with it and realized fall is coming. WHAT YOUR BODY KNOWS The...

Chelsea Johnson Ayurveda The Body Rhythm Your Body's Been Buffering For Years What if menopause isn't the problem, but the moment everything else finally becomes visible? Hi Reader, Fall is starting to peek through, but the heat's still hanging on, so I'm balancing both this week. I also just moved (more on that below), and this week's episode dives into something I think a lot of you will feel seen by: the way perimenopause and menopause gets blamed for everything you're feeling. WHAT YOUR...

Chelsea Johnson Ayurveda The Body Rhythm Beyond Equality: The Shakti Within Hi Reader, Women's Equality Day was last week, August 26th. It's a day to honor the women who fought for the right to vote, to lead, to be full members of society. But I think equality is asking something more of us now โ€” not to keep proving we can match the pace and productivity, but to allow ourselves the room for softness, creativity, rhythm, connection, nourishment, and rest. WHAT YOUR BODY KNOWS Many of us are...
