Are Women Wired Differently? Women's Hormones, Burnout & the Body Rhythm

The Body Rhythm

Are Women Wired Differently?

Hi Reader,

Something came up on my Morning Reset Live this week that I haven't been able to stop thinking about — and I think you might want to hear it too.

I've spent the last two years in deep caregiving mode. No days off. No real breaks. Just going from one thing to the next, asking my body to do more and more with less and less.

And I did it. I showed up. I advocated. I held it together.

But here's what I had to learn the hard way: women's bodies aren't designed to go to war every single day.

Our biology runs on cycles, rhythm, relationship, and seasons. Not 24-hour resets like men — a full monthly cycle of ebb and flow. Which means when we're constantly armoring up, constantly in output mode, constantly in battle stance — our bodies pay for it. Deeply.

For me it showed up as weight gain, inflammation, poor sleep, zero cravings for anything joyful. I wasn't lazy. I wasn't undisciplined. My body was just exhausted from being asked to perform like it was built for something it wasn't.

When I finally started doing less — more rhythm, more ease, more nourishment — things shifted without forcing. The weight began to move. Sleep deepened. The cravings quieted. Joy slowly came back.

Your body isn't broken. It's overwhelmed.

And if you've been wondering whether your exhaustion is something you just need to push through — or something worth actually addressing — I'd love to talk.

Have a wonderful week.

Be well and nourished,
Chelsea

P.S. When was the last time your body felt like home? One word. Hit reply and tell me.

Chelsea Johnson Ayurveda The Body Rhythm Bloated, Tired, and Run Down (It's Not Three Problems) I spent a Fourth of July lying in bed, nauseous, listening to fireworks I couldn't watch. I'd had all the tests. Everything came back normal. Nobody told me it was all connected. Hi Reader, With the Fourth of July having just passed, I've been thinking about rhythm — and what happens to the body when it gets disrupted, even briefly. This week's issue is about something I wish someone had explained...
